Diem Perdidi Lunam Percipo - I have lost the day, but gained the moon

Adobe Illustrator 10 - 4-5 hours

EDIT: Latin grammar fixed, and I changed the size so that I can make it a print.

ouuu, this is just awsome! I love that phrase too
Another great design and the phrase is wonderful, as well as the colors :-)
Absolutely wonderful.

:+fav:
Ahh another one!! And I love the toned-down colours in this; they strike me as even more beautiful than the very colourful ones, in some way.
I am just overwhelmed by the beauty of your interpretation of the moon; it definately brings to mind some of Tolkien's earlier thoughts abot his mythology and the Sun and Moon, or maybe just the interpretations of various cultures in the past. The white colour gives the impression of some kind of ivory or even pearl, which the designs on it make look regal and even more beautiful. The small circles reflect the idea of pearls as well, and the curling lines reflect the idea of some sort of carved ivory or other animal bone.
And once again you've done an awesome job depicting the Night in basic, mythological terms; the dark background and the use of dark blues and pale colours really make it clear that the hour of day here is twilight or even Night.
And I love the way it looks like the Moon is 'engulfing' the Sun, but still it looks very peaceful and tranquil.
At the top you again differentiate between Night and day I think, by using the dark blue colour for one of the bars, and a sort of pale golden colour for the lower one.
And I see you're sticking to this breathtaking glass-art style; I'm really glad, it's one of the most beautiful and minimalistic styles I've ever come across. :faint:
This is truly beautiful, I have to :+fav: it. :worship:

Oh, there is a tiny error in the Latin phrase I think; it should be lunam percipio, with the m. ;) But I love how you use Latin in so many of your works, as I said before it creates a definite mystical effect, or a sort of 'anthro', distant-past sort of feel. :aww:

Oh and percipio is most likely the present-tense form of the verb; if you want the word to be in the past tense like the other one, it would be something else..
Did you invent this yourself, the phrase I mean, or did you find it from somewhere? It's a beautiful phrase.

I was hoping you'd correct my latin.... the diem perdidi part is translated right (I got it off a quote site) but I added the rest myself using a simple word list thingy and I'm afraid it's prolly terribly messed up... so if you could tell me the proper words that'd be great ;)

Thanks!

Diem perdidi, Lunam percepi
That would be the exact translation. :) But percipio looks a little better to me, and it wouldn't be terribly wrong to use the present tense.. It would basically say "I lost the Day [but] I gain the Moon". Same thing. :D

Oh sorry forgot to add, if you want you can use the word for 'but', which is sed . :) Then the wholly correct form would look nice as well, because it would have a sort of beat..
Diem perdidi sed Lunam percepi, it's like a chant! :D

Fabulous, thanks, I'll fix it in a bit...
